So lets get started. Apart from all of the fights, pot smokers, stupid school system, spider baked pizza, juvenile delinquents and pants worn down to your knees. I would call school almost enjoyable. But lets be real here. Nothing is perfect. When I first walked through those doors you can say one of the first things I noticed is that everybody is apart of a faction. You got your Athletes, Preps, Popular's, Nerds, JROTC, Band, rednecks and then those who just don't care about their education.
My first personal encounter with one of these factions took place three days after school started. It was an ominous day. Skies were burnt to ash and the sun was blotted out as fire rained down. I could tell it would be a crappy day. It took place in Gym class. The procedure went as a followed. Get dressed in locker room, do stretches, run around a bit and them come back into the locker room and get dressed. Seems pretty ordinary. But the real entertainment starts once we get dressed back into our normal clothes to move onto the next period. I am probably already on a marked for death list now considering I am currently talking about my schools fight club, and we all know! Never talk about fight club. The Locker rooms for each girls and boys is unsupervised. With that being said, some of the stuff I have seen in there has been scolded into my brain and will haunt me for the rest of my life now. But back to fight club. It happens everyday, two kids go at it with each other while a horde of on lookers spit names and root for who they want to win. It kinda makes me sick. It is full on contact no holding back fighting and looks painful as heck. I guess that's why I was hiding in the corner and the crazy thing is. Nobody reports it! It happens every day and each fight is recorded and put up on the internet by everyone who has a phone and who recorded it.
Yes, It did provide me some manner of entertainment to watch two idiots slug it out on each other until one was bleeding or the other one was knocked out. But part of me is also thinking, I came to school to have an education and I know how important that is to my future. Doesn't anyone think that also? Granted, there are plenty of others out there who feel the same way but I myself feel like that number is going down.
That brings me two my second rant. I'm not sure it's like this in every school. But we have a large group of people (As I said before) who just don't care about their education. For instance, I know of one kid who is 19 years old and only has 3 credits to his name. When he turns 20 the school will no longer accept him and he will be on his own. I know it is sad. But If you don't care about your education why are you at school anyway? Just to cause havoc and make it harder for the rest of us? I say this because I've seen on three occasions where the school police officer personally escorted a student out of my classroom either for fighting, being disruptive or being caught with something illegal. Oh boy! Illegal stuff in the schools? What an outrage! Yep. I've been offered weed on plenty occasions and I have seen more then my share of high (and drunk) students. I really would just love to have a random drug test applied to the entire school out of the blue. Just to see how many students would get caught, that'd make my day. I crap you not, I know at least 1/3rd of my school is involved with such antics.
Lets move on, Lunch. My school is divided up into 4 different Lunch sessions. 1,2,3,&4 and we all have 22 minutes to get to the lunchroom, fight through a line of three hundred people which takes about 15 minutes then find a seat in five minutes and have two minutes to eat. I used to eat food at lunch and those who have ate it I think we can all agree that it tastes like cardboard but at least it is something. Now I say that I 'used' to eat lunch because I don't anymore. I just bring my own snacks. Why is this? I found out the truth of the unsanitary conditions that go on when cooking the food for our school. I mentioned spider baked pizza at the top right? Well yeah. I was not lying, I was there and across my table some lucky kid found a large spider baked into his pizza and he was not the only one. At least two more had the same issue. So after that discovery and after puking out my lunch I decided to stop buying school food and start bringing my own.
Finally lets talk about the school system itself. I like to learn but my brain works weirdly. I have to go at my own pace and I don't cope well with distractions. So when one of the teachers in math class allows all of the other students to talk, hoot, holler and carry on. You can imagine how I can not focus and how that leads to getting a bad grade on the material. I seriously think that teacher really did not care about our education. As he just sat there and let all of these things go on in the classroom. You can put in complaints, sure. But it won't get you anywhere. I feel like the teachers and administrators do not see us as people and honestly I don't feel like an actual human being when going to school. I feel like cattle inside a massive herd of cattle and who is being herded around from one place to another and if one of the cattle lags behind or is injured then they just leave it to fend for itself and catch up on it's own. Which will never happen.
It's survival of the fittest plain and simple.
